Frequently Asked Questions
â–ºWhat’s the deal with teletherapy versus in-office sessions?
Essentially, teletherapy makes use of electronic means (i.e., a secured online platform, unlike Zoom, Skype, etc.) to communicate client needs rather than going to a physical or in-office location.
Hollings Therapy, LLC uses this medium to deliver services in order to keep the cost of therapeutic services low, provide convenience for clients on the go, and to allow for scheduling flexibility.
For those who are hesitant to engage in telehealth therapy, you are invited you to challenge your beliefs about this medium by giving this form of psychotherapy a try.
â–ºWhat are your hours of operation?
Hollings Therapy, LLC begins seeing clients at 10:00 a.m. Central Time (CT). The last client session of the day is scheduled at no later than 5:00 p.m. CT. Our services are offered from Monday through Sunday, to include most U.S. holidays.
â–ºIndividual, group, couples, family, minors, or adult services?
While Hollings Therapy, LLC clinicians have worked with groups, couples, family units, and minors (below the age of 18) in one capacity or another, our providers work solely with individual adult clients.
â–ºWho may benefit from counseling or psychotherapy?
A more appropriate question may be who couldn’t benefit from counseling or psychotherapy services? Because rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) is a transdiagnostic psychotherapeutic modality, there is no need for a diagnosis in order to receive or practice this self-help method.
â–ºDo you offer advice?
The short answer is no.
Rather than recommending a course of action for your life – which fosters codependence – Hollings Therapy, LLC providers invite self-determined and autonomous people to empower themselves through humanistic and routine practice of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) – which promotes independence.
â–ºDo you prescribe medication?
The short answer is no.
Hollings Therapy, LLC clinicians are Texas-based licensed professional counselors and licensed clinical social workers who do not maintain prescribing authority (i.e., medication scripts, therapy animal notes, home modification referrals, etc.). Therefore, you are encouraged to contact a qualified physician and/or psychiatrist for your prescription needs.
â–ºWhat focused educational background and training do clinicians of Hollings Therapy, LLC maintain?
In the 1990s, as an adolescent, Hollings Therapy, LLC providers began informal practice as an uncertified life coach. This casual and non-accredited method underlies the process of helping people get better and not merely feel better to this very day.
Hollings Therapy, LLC clinicians then earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education degree with a focus on criminal justice administration from Wayland Baptist University in 2009.
In 2011, our providers earned a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Wayland Baptist University.
Then, in 2014, our psychotherapists earned a Master of Science in Social Work degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Additionally, Hollings Therapy, LLC clinicians completed eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) basic training from the EMDR Institute in 2020, though this psychotherapeutic modality is no longer used at this practice.
Further, our practitioners completed advanced practicum training in the principles and practice of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) from the Albert Ellis Institute in 2021. This is the main psychotherapeutic model used by Hollings Therapy, LLC, as our staff studied it during our initial graduate school educational period (2009-2011).
Assessing the likelihood of a cross-model approach to client care, our providers successfully completed a four-day intensive certification and training course for dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), as well as focus to become a certified personality disorder treatment provider (C-PD), in 2023. No longer practicing the former, training from the latter informs services offered by Hollings Therapy, LLC.
